A popup exhibition from the National Archives that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment will open at the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center on August 26.
The exhibition, titled Rightfully Hers, explores the history of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The show will include historic photographs and a film, called Courage in Corsets, that looks at women’s voting rights before and after the amendment’s passage, along with the impact of the amendment today.
“We are thrilled to bring this popup exhibition to our jewel-box art museum at the MACC,” says Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center Executive Director Cheryl Strichik.“ The ratification of the 19th Amendment was a landmark moment in American history that dramatically changed the electorate, and we are proud to highlight Tennessee’s special place in this chapter of American history.”
